These three shop-made bronze mallets were fashioned from the pouring-cup and the main sprue from lost wax foundry castings of bronze sculptures. As you can see from the wear on the heads the two smaller ones are used much more frequently.
 
I use these with mallet-head chisels for general carving on soft oolitic limestones such as Indiana limestone, or for detail/finishing carving on softer marbles such as Carrara Bianco Unito, Colorado Yule, and similar stones. I also use them when lettercarving in slate, limestone, or marble.
